Solar-Powered Lawn Care with Smart Automation
The Solar-Powered Lawnmower is an innovative, self-sustaining landscaping solution designed to offer eco-friendly, quiet, and low-maintenance lawn care. By integrating solar charging, lithium-ion batteries, an automatic fertilizer spreader, and smart automation, this mower eliminates the need for fuel, excessive maintenance, and high noise levels. ONMOTIO took the project from a conceptual idea to a fully functional prototype, ready for crowdfunding and market validation.


ONMOTIO designed the visual identity and ergonomic structure to create a mower that combines modern, sleek aesthetics with functional efficiency. The automotive-inspired design sets it apart from traditional bulky mowers, with solar panels integrated seamlessly for maximum sunlight absorption. An ergonomic, height-adjustable handle improves user comfort.


Developing a fully functional prototype required deep mechanical, electrical, and energy system integration. We designed a lightweight yet durable chassis optimized for strength and maneuverability, dual-battery integration (40V, 8Ah lithium-ion) allowing continuous operation, a self-propulsion system, a height-adjustable cutting deck, and an optimized airflow and grass collection system preventing clogging.


A key innovation was the integration of a self-sustaining solar system. We integrated a 50W solar panel positioned for optimal sun exposure, designed an intelligent power distribution system, enabled solar trickle charging for passive recharge when idle, and developed a low-consumption power mode for extended runtime. Smart features include push-to-start ignition, integrated soil and grass sensors, LED lighting for low-light operation, modular battery swap, and an automated fertilizer dispenser.



A major milestone was building and testing a fully functional prototype. We developed detailed CAD models, produced CNC-cut chassis prototypes testing durability, integrated real motors, batteries, and controllers, and conducted field tests analyzing efficiency, traction, and blade performance. Photorealistic 3D renders, explainer animations, and promotional videos were created to support the crowdfunding launch.
