    The project began with persona development and a refined design brief to align the technological and aesthetic vision. Orphey was never conceived as a "wearable with EEG features". It was positioned from day one as a luxury lifestyle product that happens to integrate brain-computer interface technology.

    • Aesthetic harmony with luxury tech brands, taking a Devialet-style design approach as a reference point for premium minimalism in audio
    • Premium materials and finishes for a high-end consumer experience that justifies the price positioning
    • Balanced weight distribution to ensure long-term wearability, non-negotiable for an EEG headset designed for daily use

    EEG Sensor System & Ergonomic Challenges

    Stable skin contact, lasting comfort. Both, not one.

    One of the most complex aspects of Orphey was designing an EEG sensor system that ensures stable skin contact while maintaining comfort. Traditional EEG headsets sacrifice one for the other. Orphey had to do both.

    • Custom-designed retractable EEG spikes. Engineered to gently penetrate hair while maintaining a soft, rounded tip for comfort. Electrically actuated for consistent skin contact during real-world use
    • Multi-point EEG array. Four sensor arrays integrated into the headband arch for frontal and parietal coverage. Three additional sensors per ear cup for temporal coverage
    • Stable readings during movement. Optimized to function in varied environments, minimizing noise artifacts from head movement
    • Brush-like electrode design adapts to individual head shapes for an optimal fit across diverse users

    ONMOTIO architected an adaptive audio loop where EEG signal continuously informs the sound profile. Rather than rely on fixed presets, the system uses cloud-based AI to interpret each user's neural response in near real time and steer the audio toward the chosen mental state.

    • Mood-based sound personalization. Users select a desired emotional state, and the AI adapts audio properties (tempo, frequency emphasis, spatial positioning) to guide them toward it
    • Continuous learning and refinement. The AI learns user-specific reactions over time, fine-tuning music selection and sound modulation
    • Cloud-based processing. EEG data is transmitted via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to a centralized system where advanced AI models analyze and optimize responses in near-real-time
